Hamilton Sings About the 403(b)
July 21, 2020
How does a bastard, orphan, grandfather to the 401(k)
Dropped in the middle of the 20th century, forgotten
Impoverished in squalor
Grow up to be an anti-hero and non-scholar?
The high-dollar, founding retirement plan without a father
Has NOT got a lot farther, is NOT a lot smarter,
Is NOT a self-starter, makes teachers work A LOT harder
At 62, it needs a new operating charter
And every day while teacher balances are being slaughtered and carted
Away across the waves, many struggle and keep their guard up
Inside, there is a longing for something to be a part of
Teachers are ready to beg, steal, borrow, or barter
Everyday a hurricane of fees and pain
Teacher savings futures are drip-dripping down the drain
Many are putting a pencil to the temple connected to the brain
And writing their first refrain, a testament to their pain
Well the word is getting around that "This plan is insane, man!"
A movement is building to fix this pain
"Teachers, get your education don't forget from whence you came, and
The world is gonna know your name! What's your name, man?"
The K-12 403(b)
My name is the K-12 403(b)
And there's a million things wrong with me
But just you wait, just you, wait
Stay well.
